Amazing dictionary

It runs fast with no bugs, it has a expansive database, and is easy to use. Since it downloads the each language, you dont even need to be on wi-fi to use it! Best German dictionary app out there.

Nice

Has words my other German dictionaries dont - especially slang. Would be nice if you added Slovene to your database - that would get you five stars.

The absolute best German English dictionary

Look no further because you wont find anything better. The use of real, not computer generated, pronunciations make this app crucial to learning German (or English as a German for that matter). It downloads the whole dictionary on LTE in under a minute. This has really made learning the language more fun and simple. I do like the game for learning words too! It would be smarter if it used your history of searched words and then tried to quiz you that way. Overall: 6/5. The price seems low to me for all that the app does... Also, shouldnt the flag be a German and American flag :) there are more German towns in America than the UK :P

Favourite dictionary app.

Once the app is loaded the definitions are near instant. I love the vast database and offline use. I bought the plus version mainly to support the site. I look forward to the upcoming iOS7 look.

Extremely good btw German&English!

...with a lot of multi-word phrases; but rather weak for other languages. No online access, you need to download a large file, but its worth the space.

SkiGrrrrl

Terrible. Hard to use. Dont have time for this. Also kind of ugly and uninspired. Waste of my $3.99.

Outstanding!

As a newcomer to the German language, this app provides me with accurate spellings and pronunciations and I would reccomend this app to anyone else learning German. Das ist spitze!

Crowd-sourcing: the way languages are supposed to be!

The concept of this app is brilliant. It seems to be maturing into a robust database for translation dictionaries across a wide array of permutations of (mostly European) languages. I like being able to track and save the words I have needed to look up. I download the vocabulary lists and make old-fashioned flashcards because my brain still needs something 3-dimensional for my hands to play with. My vocabulary--and my confidence reading German--have grown exponentially. There are probably more possible translations than are helpful for a beginner. But given the reasonable price of this app, it is a good idea to buy a standard dictionary to keep nearby. I look forward to boosting my Italian vocabulary next!

Ok, but doesnt replace website

Interface: 5/5 Content: 5/5 Two stars off for the following reasons: 1. Integration with your dict.cc account is kind of hidden, and only allows for uploading/downloading entire lists. I would prefer a more seamless experience. 2. Poor search functionality. Searching is strictly literal. For example, "suchen nach" doesnt find "nach etw. suchen". The website has much more powerful search capabilities, including (minimal) support for regular expressions (* and ?). 3. No indication of noun/verb inflections (as there is on the website)

I love this app! But...

I love this app! But its not really worth the money over the free version. I was disappointed that the other language dictionaries are not really anything. They have few entries and no audio. I didnt test this out in the free version and I should have. The main (and, for all useful purposes, only) languages are English-German. Since Im learning German right now, thats fine, but I was disappointed that this app wont help me at all when its time to learn Slovak. I was hoping the vocabulary learning and quiz games would be more advanced and customizable but they arent. I cant really say theres any real reason to purchase this app apart from ad removal and supporting the developer.

Best German/English Dictionary

I have tried many German/English Dictionaries, but this one is by far the best.

Tons of definitions, great open resource

Tons of definitions in a no-frills speedy app. Entries are open to the public to improve upon wiki-style at www.dict.cc Many words have native speaker sound-clip pronunciations; those that dont have computer synthesized versions. The vocabulary trainer is really helpful. I like listening to podcasts and simultaneously adding words I dont know to "My Vocabulary." Then, after the podcast is done I review the words. The app uses a multi-stack memorization method which intelligently shows you words youre struggling with in an order that helps you retain them.

Very, very good

Clean, utilitarian interface. Contains many expressions, phrases, idioms, etc. Downloadable dictionaries for offline viewing. The best dictionary app for German.

The best online German-English dictionary, but...

The alphabetical list that comes up when you enter the first letters of a word doesnt distinguish between simple forms and compound forms/expressions but gives every single entry in the lexicon that matches ref search, many of which are obscure and/or technical. So, for instance, I looked up "unterbreiten" and typed "unterbre" hoping I could just select it from the list (since I use the app on my phone and like to type as little as possible). Of the 50 entries that came up the first 49 were various forms of "unterbrechen," including "Unterbrechungsanalyseroutine"! The LEO German dictionary app seems to have an algorithm that selects the primary forms of a word for the autofill list. It would be great if dict.cc could work the same way.

Ahmed

Very slow with on my ipad air 2 after ios 9 update, the app has no support at all and is not regularly update and no new features are being added

Excellent App!

Ive purchased and tried many for German, but this one is the best overall. Only wish? To be able to export the vocabulary list youve created.
